Caring for Hand & Foot Care Tools: From Nail Brush to Pedifeil
Our hand and foot tools are made for daily use at the sink or in the bathtub. Whether it's the classic hand brush, the robust artisan's brush, or our specialized Pedifeil – high-quality natural materials like FSC-certified beechwood, boar bristles, and Tampico fibers need the right care to remain hygienic and durable.

1. Tools at a Glance
Each tool has its own characteristics and places different demands on its environment:
The Classic Hand & Nail Brush
Ideal for daily cleaning at the sink. Available with vegan Tampico fiber or boar bristles. It should be rinsed briefly after use and always stored with the bristles facing down.
The Robust Artisan's Brush
With particularly strong fibers for stubborn dirt. Since it is often subjected to more intense mechanical stress, the wood particularly benefits from occasional oil treatment.
The Water-Resistant Pedifeil
Our specialist for soft feet. The Pedifeil is extremely water-resistant due to its special processing. It is the ideal tool for use in the shower or relaxing in the bathtub to gently and effectively remove calluses.
2. The Golden Rule: Avoid Standing Water
Wood is a living, hygroscopic material. If a brush is left in a puddle at the edge of the sink after use, water will soak into the wood. This can lead to discoloration or cracks.
Bristles Down
Always place your hand or artisan's brush with the bristles facing down after use. This way, residual water drips off instead of standing in the wood. The Pedifeil should be rinsed briefly after bathing and dried in an airy place (not left hanging in a constantly damp shower).
3. Natural Deep Cleaning & Hygiene
To remove soap residue, skin flakes, or limescale, we recommend regular refreshing:
- Vinegar Bath: Place the brushes in a shallow bowl with lukewarm water and a splash of vinegar for about 5 minutes. The vinegar acts as a natural antibacterial and dissolves limescale.
- Shake out: After cleaning, shake the tools vigorously to remove water from the crevices. This significantly shortens the drying time.
4. Wood Care for Lasting Protection
FSC-certified beechwood is naturally robust. However, constant contact with water can make it a little rough over time.
Our Tip: Occasionally massage a few drops of natural vegetable oil (e.g., linseed oil or olive oil) into the completely dry wood. The oil saturates the pores, restores the natural shine, and ensures that water simply pearls off the next time it's used[1].
