Boar bristle or tampico?
Boar bristles have a keratin-based scale structure that resembles human hair. They pick up the scalp's own sebum and distribute it along the lengths – the result is more shine and a groomed, smooth fall. They suit straight to slightly wavy, fine to normal hair. Tampico is the plant-based, vegan fibre from the agave. It is firmer, grips more strongly and suits thick or coarse hair and anyone who prefers a more intense brushing feel. Both brushes sit in an ergonomic body of FSC wood. More help choosing: FAQ & advice.
How to brush correctly
Detangle the ends first, then work gradually higher and finally brush through from roots to ends. That distributes the sebum and massages the scalp. For very curly hair the hair care brush is more of a finishing tool; the paddle brush is better for detangling.
Care
Pull hair out of the bristles regularly. Every few weeks, move the bristles in lukewarm water with a little mild shampoo – keeping the wood as dry as possible – and let the brush dry bristles down.
Frequently asked questions
Which brush for fine hair?
Boar bristle, medium-firm. It is gentle on the scalp and brings shine to fine hair.
Which brush for thick hair?
Tampico, firm. The fibre has more grip and gets through coarse hair better.
Does brushing help against hair loss?
No. Brushing cares for hair and scalp; it is not a medical treatment. We promise nothing here.
