Wooden pins instead of plastic nubs
The QUOALA paddle brush has rounded hornbeam pins in an air cushion of natural rubber. The pins glide through the hair without pulling. The air cushion gives way when a knot resists, instead of tearing at it. The large surface handles mid-length to long hair in a few strokes. Vegan, because entirely without animal bristles.
What it is for
Detangling – even towel-damp hair after the shower, when boar bristles are too gentle. And scalp massage: the pins apply light pressure to the scalp, which many find relaxing. For shine and finish it pairs well with a boar bristle brush: paddle first, then natural bristle. More help choosing: FAQ & advice.
Care
Pull hair out regularly. If needed, wipe pins and cushion with a damp cloth; do not submerge, so the wood does not swell.
Frequently asked questions
Can I brush wet hair?
Towel-damp yes, starting from the ends. Dripping-wet hair is at its most stretchy – use a wide-toothed comb there instead.
Is it suitable for curls?
For detangling damp curls, yes. Brushing dry curls breaks up the curl pattern – that applies to every brush.
Why hornbeam?
Hornbeam is a hard, dense wood that polishes smooth and does not splinter – ideal for pins that glide over the scalp every day.
